History

The Houston Community Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving the community of Houston since 1966. On October 10, 1966, eight members of the community signed the original articles of incorporation for the Houston Community Association, Inc. These men were Harold W. Roeth, Norris Flinn, Richard J. Jones, William E. Cowan, Donald L. Meyer, Kenneth E. Burger, Lonnie Langston, and Herschel Kiehl. Also, on this day, they appointed Roy O. Roeth as the first registered agent for the corporation. The Houston Community Center was built in 1968 for the community of Houston to have a place to hold gatherings. The initial nine trustees were Harold W. Roeth, Norris Flinn, Richard J. Jones, William E. Cowan, Roy O. Roeth, Robert Wolf, John Foster, Floyd Rauch, and Clifford Swob.

A basketball game in the old Houston gym, circa 1958. Player number 54 is Fred Roeth, who holds the 3rd highest record at Houston for the most points scored in a season (462), the 6th highest record for the most field goals in a season (177), the 3rd highest record for the most points scored in a game (39 – which was a game against Ft.
